I had a buddy here trying to tune his Hoyt today. He put on a QAD fall away but we could not get fletch clearance. I think we adjusted the string on the rest properly, but during paper tuning the fletching was just nailing his prongs. We put the bow in the vice and leveled everything up. I am at a loss, what do you think?

Haveone of you watch and draw the bow slowly, the rest should be all the way up before the last 2 inches of draw. Also make sure the bottom two feathers form a upside down V over the rest.

Are you using blazers ?
I had a QAD and blazers, could never get it to stop making contact I could see a line down the U that the blazers left. I just had a limb driver put on my bow because of this. |

Everything looked good on the draw, and he was using 4" vanes and wants to go to blazers. I don't quite understand the rest, think it reacts due to the force of the string, unlike my Ripcord that is ready to go at full draw. Could his bow be out of timing?

I always cocked my QAD prior to drawing doubt that makes a difference though. |

What QAD rest? If it is a hunter, take it off and return it. They flutter, make noise and usualy bounce back into the vanes.
The only QAD I will sell is this years Pro Series with lockdown technology. -------------------- Got game? www.yankeeguideservice.com

it is the ultra rest hunter, is that the one? They usualy do not work. I will only put them on cheeper economical bows with large brace heights and slower arrow speeds. Bring it back and exchange for a PRO SERIES HD with lockdown technology if he realy likes a full containment rest. -------------------- Got game? www.yankeeguideservice.com

Phoenix you rule:
My buddy took the set up to Bass Pro and the bow tech was familiar with the rest and set up. He raised the nocking point 1.5" and it flew perfectly with no contact. He said it was something with that set up...we had the bow square, etc to find the nocking point but still had issues. Guess it pays to have someone familiar with a particular set up work on it. Good job Bass Pro and thanks guys. -------------------- "The mountains are calling and I must go" - John Muir

WOW!!! . . . 1.5" needed to raise the knocking point to the correct position. It sounds like you squared up the arrow with the rest in the down position. That's the only way you could have the knock so low. It must be squared up with the rest in the cocked or up postion. Is that what happened?
I have the QAD Pro HD Series with Lockdown and it is a sweet setup. I can shoot feathers or blazers off it and they fly like darts. Good luck with your setup. This post has been edited by PaPaBob: Sep 17 2009, 08:36 PM -------------------- Bob ( A.K.A. scriverb )
A downed animal is most certainly the object of a hunting trip, but it becomes an anticlimax when compared to the many other pleasures of the hunt. Fred Bear 1902 - 1988 My Game Cam Pics My Avitar Pics for Downloading Slave Flash building Steps |
