I have been told that N.H. has had more hunters in the woods this year (2006), then is the past 36 years. This means that more hunters have been succesfull, and this could possibly stop the decline that many people (ecspecialy kids) have been following.
If you into game cameras, and are from N.H., make a post and just say hey

Well- the harvest was up. This is due to 2 very mild winters and 2 years of heavy mast crops. Allowing more deer to survive because they headed into winter in great shape. Once again the deer will be going into winter in great shape. No snow on the ground throughout the State and it is the end of December. Really, they will only have 2 months of snow left to deal with except in the North country. The weather pattern through the 1st week of Jan is showing no snow. As for more hunters in the woods. Liscence sales may have been up but that could also be do to this was the first year of a fall turkey season as well. I don't believe there were more folks in the woods. I bow hunt primarily but still rifle from time to time. I did not see more hunters in my areas. Actually, one area I have hunted for years and have cameras in I saw fewer folks in and never saw vehicles parked there on days I didn't hunt. I drive by the area every morning and at dusk on work days and never saw vehicles when in the past there were several vehicls daily. I could be off but these were observations in my area.
What the State needs to do is increase our herd. We are one of the few States to have 6 comnsecutive weeks of gun season. I think they should make Muzzy one week from it's current 11days. Trim a week off rifle and add a residents only weekend. Better yet go buck only for 5 years for firearms and have one weekend residents only shotgun either sex. After 5 years go back to limited ode days like it is now.
