I have been shooting a bow for about 16 years now and have always used a release. From the very start i have been using a T shaped lobo style caliper release. Just want to try something in a wrist type caliper release. Anybody have one in the $40 - $60 range that they like?

Any recommendations?

Just my opinion, but I have found the Scott releases to be much better than some other cheaper ones. Try to see if an archery shop will let you try different releases before you purchase. This is a very important piece of you equipment involved in every shot so don't scrimp on finding one that works best for you.

I also use a Scott release. Mine is an older model called the Rhino and now an improved model is offered called the Silverhorn. I have shot finger tabs for 36 years when I switched over to a release. I use a string loop and have found this release to simulate much the same action as a finger release. You see it is a hook type release and not a caliper. The reason I like this is without looking I can easily grab hold of the loop with the open hook. Much like you can grab the string with a finger tab.

Here is a link to the new model of the same basic design.

Scott Archery SILVERHORN Release

There is litterally no wear of the loop or the string with this type of release. It just swivels out of the way with no friction at all. I have seen in video's( lol lol cracked me up ) a guy having a monster buck in front of him and his caliper type release has worn the serving or loop down to the point where the calipers let is slip right through and he couldn't draw the bow. Won't happen with this type of release. Just my assessment and opinion.

check out the little bitty goose. it is a wrist type release and there is not a "rod" attaching it to the wrist part. it has a rope to connect it to the wrist strap and when not in use it is out of the way.

Used to use the little bitty goose now use the wildcat. Like everyone said you cant go wrong with a scott.

I use the Copperhead release made by TRU Ball. It is by far one of the best releases on the market.

For your price range and a quality release, You may want to check out TruFire's Hurricane and BullDog.
Both great products and in a more affordable price with unlimitted leng adjustability.

I have been shooting with a Scott Caliper for about twenty years

I have had a lot of problems with back tension releases. That is why I shoot Scott Lil Goose. I can buy far say this is the best release that I have used. Just my opinion.
