Ok folks here is the deal. Looking for input from folks that know yotes well or even better if they have hunted them succesfully. I got permission to hunt a property for yotes here in NH so we are talking Eastern Yotes but any input is appreciated. The land owner sees them during the day every so often, they hear them at night and they are bold and braisen running right near the house day and night. Neighbors claim they see them all the time as well.He has some chickens and donkeys and they have gotten a bird or two here and there. Hoping if we get a few it will lead to deer hunting permission.
Land owner walked the property with us and showed us where he sees them cross most of the time. It is along a marshy area at the bottom of the field. We have set up two nights now and seen nothing, heard them howl one night in the distance. We are set up in a blind with scent control. The wind swirls a great deal on this property so we try to face the predominent winds. We have limited snow so print checking is difficult. The owner also walks his dog on the property so sometimes there is a wide amount of canine print. We have to use shotguns with buck shot as the only options in this town are shotgun or rimfire. We have been set up in the blind from roughly 1 hr before sunset until 8 or 9pm depending on how much cold we can take. Been between 25 and 0 on the two nights we have been out. We also have one of those little coleman catalytic propane heaters in the blind to take the chill out. We have been using a small electronic call that was like 40 bucks at wally world with a cottontail, rodent and puppy cries on it. We have even been cleaning out the freezers of old meat and dropping it at the site about 40 to 50 yds from the blind where we set up. Typically throw out between 4 or 5 items a night for the past week, Steaks, hams, chops partially to fully thawed. Last night we even had a fresh chicken that had died the night before and a grey squirel I succesfully roadkilled when he lost a game of chicken!
Looking for ideas from some experienced folks as to what will draw them in.

I am a very poor yote hunter but, I have had success by digging a shallow hole in the ground, filling it with old meat, etc and covering it with a little dirt then good size rocks. This keeps them from snatching it all quickly and will be a good bait for several days. I did this in warm weather, and after the 2nd night with the bait out, it started getting really good action.

Forget using the call anymore, they have you figured out.

Also in most cases the yote will circle down wind to scent what they are hearing to scent check. Keep a person watching your downwind side.

Thanks guys. We do typically sit so we have one watching into the wind and one watching down wind. Not sure what we will try next. Unfortunatly at night it is not feasable to call and move after a half hour or so plus the property is only 70 acres with a good section being a marsh/swamp. Next weekend is a full moon so we will be at it again. I think we may try either an allnighter or hunt like 8 until midnight and again from like 5Am until 10AM. Most likely we will use the blind set up on a field to use the moon to our advantage.

Something took the bait over the past 18hrs. Went out yesterday and the chicken and squirell were still out there fromm Sat night. I dropped a 5lb pork roast and a 1/2 a package of hot dogs yesterday around noon. Went out tonight to drop some more old meet from the freezer and everything was gone. Hopefully this weekend with the full moon we will score at least one. We plan on doing like a 7PM until mid night then return around 1/2 hr before sunup until like 9 or 10 Sun morning.

I have seen several large deer. Sunday at dawn I saw a huge bodied buck. My guess on the hoof it is 200 lbs plus. One night at sunset we saw roughly 7 take off together. Here in NH to see that many together is not to common. we have spent roughly 16 hrs in the blind over bait to no avail. However, last night we found out that the landowners mother-in-law is feeding the turkeys. Guess where the yote's are? About 1/2 mile away at her house. So Sat afternoon we are taking a walk down there.

I,m no expert, but you might change your location, and try coyote challenge calls or interogation howls.Sometimes if they think another coyote is moving in they will investigate.Good luck
