I went shed hunting the other day where I elk hunt, got up the hill a bit in some crotch-deep snow, took me forever to get out, I had to go down into a stream cut and guys, I was nervous. I was wet, tired and afraid the snow that was now up to my waist was going to swallow me up, let loose or if I got my foot stuck in something, create a nice little ice coffin for me. It wasn't the smartest thing I have ever done, and yes, I was unprepared and very nervous. Glad to report, I made it out. Think more than I did!!!

That deep snow sure can drain you, even with snowshoes.

I wish I would have had snow shoes. I will be more careful next time!
