About 20 years ago I went perch fishing somewhere near Linwood I think. Had rock piers to fish from. Can't remember now where it was. Anyone know of a spot like this around the western Saginaw Bay area? I'd kind of like to go sit on the rocks and catch some perch for dinner.

jon,

You could just come to Minnesota when we thaw out. Out of the 10,000+ lakes here, I don't think we have one that doesn't have perch in it. I'm heading up the North Shore tomorrow in hopes of finding a couple rainbows. biggrin.gif (If the weather improves.)

Good luck on your quest. cheers.gif

Well, gee thanks trophy, sounds like fun, but Saginaw Bay is just a tad closer. And we've pretty much thawed out in the lower here. No snow on the ground, girls in bikinis (ok I made that one up.....for now), robins looking for worms, water you don't have to drill a hole in to fish and some big yellow orb in the sky. Unless you're buying the bait of course.

Jon,

There are many opportunities near Linwood to get out on the Bay. I pretty much grew up perch fishing out there both through the ice and by boat. If you are looking for up to date reports on how the fishing is give Franks Bait and Tackle a call (989-697-5341) or go to their website below and they can fill you in.

Thanks Ryan, I think I'll head up on Thursday and do some driving/fishing in the area. I just remember I found a nice motel and the pier was close by. Being retired I can make the 2 1/2 drive and if the fish aren't biting I can head home without feeling like a weekend without fish was a tragedy. Just can't remember where the place was, mostly because I bought a boat and started salmon fishing not long afterwards and let the panfishing go by the wayside.
