First dead turkey of the year for me. Two year old bird, not much for spurs but weighted 19.5 and 10+ inch beard so overall not too bad.

My brother and I set up in a blind Thursday afternoon, ambushed about 15 birds heading to the roost. This was our first double as we smoked a pair of twin toms so it was a good evening. It was tough hunting as the birds were really henned up and stopped gobbling by 8am every morning.

We had two other pals with us, I "guided" one to another tom on Friday. That was actually a very good hunt. I got a hen to respond to a crow call and we figured she was not alone so we did a big run-around to get ahead of where they were going. Got to the first spot, called 2 times, dead bird - within in 3 minutes of sitting down. So 3 of 4 tags got filled.

Heading to Spearfish, SD this week for some Merriam's, then back to WI for the following week and will try to arrow one. After that I stay home for a bit and build up some wife points so I can get a kitchen pass for 3-D shoots this summer.
