As long as people are posting turkey pics.....
My pal and I just got back from our 3rd annual trip to South Dakota for chasing some Merriam's. We had a grand time, we were into birds every time out, and ended up each getting 2 mature gobblers. We had great luck setting up on them in the roost in the morning, spot/stalking them during the day, calling them in near the roosts in the evening.
The birds were all in the 2-3 year range, with beards from 8 to 9.5 inches and 19-20lbs. They live in some pretty rocky/rough areas so the spurs were all ground down to rounded stumps (which I still find odd). I attached one of the pics for your viewing pleasure.
This weekend I am off to southern WI and will try to put an arrow in one for the first time. I am going to try the NAP Spitfire Gobbler Getter expandable broadheads. Here's to hoping for some luck!

Nice Turk
I see you're From Brule. I have fished the Brule River quite a bit. My buddy lives nearby on Lake Minnesuing. Had a few good times in the Kro Bar...

Ah, the Kro Bar.......yes I know it well, probably better than I should. I actually live in Superior, grew up in Lake Nebagamon, but do all of my deer hunitng in Brule where I own a little land. And my bro lives in Brule so the KB is a frequent watering hole!
It is amazing how many people know or know of the Brule River. Then again, the next closest good steelhead rivers are pretty far away....

Congrats on the birds.

I nailed 2 turks with the NAP Spitfire Gobbler Getters last weekend. One I took broadside and it completely cleaned out his vitals. Took about 5 steps and then toppled over. The other one I took head on and must have severed the carotid. He ran about 30 yards before going down. Happy with the performance of those broadheads. I would suggest the broadside shot if you can get it, because last year I lost one with what I thought was a good head on shot. Good luck.
