well my son dad and i were all up hunting. i hunted with my son which was his first time hunting. i sat with him all day monday and tuesday morning. tuesday evening i sat him about 75 yards down from me. i started to get sick about 5:30-6:00. MASSIVE cramps. guess i shouldnt have had the chocolate shake before we went out. anyway about 6:30 or so i had a gobble in front of me about 100 yards or less. i pulled my gun up to get ready and of course, there were 2 toms behind me(20yards) watching me. they took off. i was sitting in rows of pines so i got thinking maybe the gobble was behnd me and it just sounded in front. i was pretty positive it came from in front of me though so i gave a couple soft i love yous and i really want to meet you on my slate call and about a minute later here came mr tom in front of me. he got to the row ms hen decoy was in and he must have thought she was butt ugly cause he turned and ran as fast as h@ll back towards where he came from butt at 40-45 yards he couldnt out run the power of a 3 1/2" turkey load. i had one clear shot about 5 yrds wide to shoot through and as soon as he got there at full speed i had some lead meet him in the middle of the clearing. and that sums it up for my hunt. now hopefully my son can get one.

Awesome bird. There is something about them gobbling that is pretty exciting!

Nice turkey! I have gone away from using decoys because I have also had Toms that appeared to be spooked by the decoys.
