I use salt licks as a lure and even more as something to keep an elk or deer around for a few pics. But the pictures would look better without the salt block in them and.... everytime some has found my cameras it was the salt lick that caught their attention. I have known of these for quite some time, but i see they are getting very popular for outdoor stores I think even Cabelas is selling them now. Has anyone ever used them ? do they work as well as a man-made salt-lick ?
Trophy Rockbtw ... i bought 4 of them so if noone knows if they really work or not i'll be posting pics to prove or disprove the claims...

I use the trophy rocks a lot.The deer really like it,so it works good for your camera sets.It will last 3 to 4 months, but they keep coming to the spot.

I buy the bags of mineral mix for livestock. I think the sheep or goat is higher in calcium so I use that. It is brown and when poured on the ground isn't very noticeable. It is cheap also.

The deer really like it for me I set up my first camera of the year looking at one of these Trophy Rocks but it seems they dig a quick hole and soon it is 6 or 8 inches down in the hole and they continue and many times they seem to have their heads down in the hole you can't eeven see it... I have also used the Antler King Mineral but it is just added to the hole. I tried others but seemly the only one I like is no longer available it was "VMASS" out of Texas. It had some added stuff that was to help the deer with new fawns and producing milk for them. I try others and nobne of them attracted much then I stratwith VMASS and now I use a combination of Trophy Rock and then my second trip I add some of the Antler King to keep the odor out and in the air and the deer seem to keep finding it...
Good Luck hope it works for you...

I am in the same position as elk_crazy, I bought 2 brown mineral blocks from tractor supply and put those out in 2 different areas. I also put out a bucket of Doc's Deer Scents Raging Rack mineral on the bottom of the hillside and by my treestand on the top of the hill with the other mineral block I put down tecomate's horns-a-plenty minerals. I had a ton of pix on the camera at the bottom of the hill. I had a coffee can size hole dug too when I went to go check for the 1st time. Checking the top of the hill by my treestand, I didn't have but 3 pictures and not much sign of tracks. So before I left, I threw down some liquid C'Mere deer, since I sell it, and swapped out sd cards out of the cameras. This was last Friday the 6th of July. I have yet to go back and see. Checking my sd cards from my camera at the bottom of the hill shows coons digging the hole where the minerals were put down. I must have had 80+ pix of that coon(s). I also had a a fawn and a pair of fawns on seperate occassions licking the minerals and the mineral block, 1 doe licking the block and that is it. I think they have not run into it much yet to know. As the camera on the top of the hillside, I had 1 nice buck come in to check it out. SO needless to say I will be anxious to see what pix and animals will be on this next run of pix since I laid down C'Meer Deer plus we got a little bit of rain which hopefully ran down the mineral blocks to start getting them melted in the ground.

Mines gone. They really stop hitting them after sept. The last one I had out lasted about 3 months. I just put another out at it has just warmed up and they are hitting everything hard. Looks like a damn cattle drive. But we just got another 13" of snow so that puts a hamper on things. I bought mine for like 6 bucks on clearance.

yea now is the time they should be hitting the mineral licks hard. Man $6.00, I would have bought the stock pile! I saw at Gander Mtn last night they are selling for $16.99 each.
