Let me start by saying I have called every feed and grain, Tractor Supply, feed mill within 50 miles of here. I cannot find DICal to save my life. I have no problems finding trace minerals and salt, even dry molasses but I'll be darned if I can find 1 once of Dical. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to look next? It seems like i will be finding it too late for this year but I still want to find it. I have found it online but by the time I were to ship it, it would be cheaper to buy commercially made minerals. An help would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you don't find it I have used the pre-mixed stuff for livestock. Read the ingredients and either the sheep or goat variety is higher in calcium than the stuff for cattle, etc so that is what I use. I think it comes in 50lb bags and it is pretty cheap.

Trapper when you say premixed stuff, what do you mean?

It is just a bag of salt and mineral mix sold at the feed store. There are formulas mixed for cattle, horses, sheep, goats, etc. It is the color of the brown mineral blocks but it is loose like sand. I think the bags are 50lbs and it is around $7 if I remember correctly. It says on the back the % of salt, calcium, magnesium, etc. and I look for the one with the highest calcium content.

Trapper, do you use just the premixed mineral mix or do you mix it with the other two items in the list from the homemade mineral mix thread?

when getting the minerals watch out for the medicated ones.I had to go to two different places to get everything for the homebrew.

I found it
I found a little mom and pop store only about 10 miles from here who told me he doesn't have it in his store but gave me the site for his supplier and said he thinks they have it and if they do, just give him the numbers and he would get it on his next truck! The one thing I noticed when looking at commercial deer minerals is they have a lot of other minerals and vitamins in them. I found an almost IDENTICAL match in a dairy mix called CertifeeD trace mineral premix #103. I'm just going to add some dry molasses to it and try it out!

I have been using it by itself but I might try the dried molasses idea also. I never thought of that.

I had done some research and had seen that a couple of people had done this to try to take some of the bitterness out of the salt and make it a little more attractive to them... I figured it can't hurt. I also add a little bit to my whole kernel corn and moisten it a little before i put it out at the feed spot.
