i'm using an original ol'man climbing stand and a couple of elcheapo lockon stands.
silbowhunter
I've been using a Summit Cobra climber for about 5-6 years but last season I noticed it developing a squeak in the base half someplace.

So I have been eying the Lone Wolf Climber, hopefully I will have one before Oct. 1

I like the ol'man TI-Vision,
comfortable net seat.
Perfect foot rest.
Not too heavy.
Sets quick and quitely.

Lug you calling the treestand you got from me an "EL-Cheepo"

I do like Summit. Got climbers hangers and ladders and tree steps. I like the looks of Lone Wolf but the price is way out of wack. My wife is a QC supervisor with a metal and plastic casting company and also thinks they are way overpriced.
I told her "But they look soooo good" Ah well.

Just like everything else in the hunting world, gotta pay for having there name on it.
I like that the plat form is one piece, shouldn't develop any squeaks that way.

They are not the only stands I own, but the Lone Wolfs I do have are by far the best stands I have ever used. The Alpha climber is significantly lighter than any other out there (13-14 lbs.) and the hang-ons I have are rock solid. For being mobile and hanging a stand in a tree I want to sit right now, and knowing it will be stable and quiet, there is just no comparison.

It may be that a lot of this has to do with lots of my hunting happening in the northern reaches of WI where it gets cold, but the fact for me is that the LWs don't pop and creek like other brands because they are one piece aluminum, rather than rivet'd or welded tubes.

I keep the climber and one hang-on around for sitting in different places. Most all the rest of my stands are hanging by right now for the coming fall.

I do own other stands but I tend to hang them and leave them in places that are so remote I am pretty confident others won't find them. I actually own 4 Big Game hang ons that are very stable and comfortable and pretty quiet, but weigh like 20+lbs. each. Thats a lot of extra weight on a mile hike into a spot. Carrying an 8 lb. Lone Wolf is a significant difference.

The Lone Wolf's definitely are more expensive than other brands, but they are for certain worth it, imo.

Just some of my opinions and experiences!

I agree with everything said about Lone Wolf. Yup, they're crazy expensive but they're so nice the high price starts to fade in your mind after a while. I borrowed a buddies one time and that was all it took for my piggy bank to have a new purpose. I now have a LW hand climber and their little bitty hang on the Assault. Both are carry in and out use only. The hand climber packs so nicely that it's hard to believe. Wow, I should sell Lone Wolf stands. Seriously, the construction and ease of use are second to none.

I sell and use lots of stands, but as far as climbers and tripod/bipods, I realy like Summit.

I use a lot of very reasobale priced Big Game Ladder stands and Ameristep Big Man Stands on my guided bear hunts.
Tarheeler
Ilike to use ladder's or loc on's
if I use a climber it 59.gif is an API
HOYTHUNTER
Summit Viper- Excellent stand.
blue heeler
Use both the Summit Razor and the API Grand Slam, both are decent climbers.

Who ever left there strap on in the tree while I was walking by- biggrin.gif Oh here's a nice spot to hunt- it comes with a tree stand too! roflmao.gif
MAXIMUS1968
I mainly have Summit stands and a few homemade ones, I have fabricated a couple of the Summit stands and made them more pleasant to sit longer times
gobblergetter
I like to use climbers. Pack them in and take them out. NO chance of theft that way.
I have an API Grand Slam Magnum, Summit Bullet and Lone Wolf climber.
The API is the most solid and stable, very easy to set up and take down. The Summit is the most comfortable, But I have a hard time getting it 'packed up' to carry . The Lone Wolf is my sweet heart. Lite weight, quite, easy to set-up,take down and pack out. It is solid on a tree.
The Lone Wolf is slightly less comfortable then the others (sling type seat)But for the couple of hours that I get to hunt before and after work, It's not a problem.
The LW is my 'go to ' stand!!!

My personal stands are a Summit Goliath and and old man. Most all of my others are gorilla silverbacks. I own several others these are just my favorites, all nice and solid for a big man.

After finally using my Lone Wolf climber this weekend I am very happy with it. I don't regret spending the money on it.
buckmaster14a
to use a climber you HAVE to have a straight no branch trunk right?

yes. It can be somewhat crooked in places but no branches. I take a saw and can cut some branches off. This also tends to leave you out in plain sight so I try to find one next to another tree that will hide me.
outdoorbob7
I have 2 API grand slams and just bought a Summit Goliath. Haven't actually climbed a tree with it yet though. Looks good and is a lot lighter than the APIs.

Tree Lounge just surpassed my API Grandslam Supereme Magnum as my new favirote.

I've never owned a stand; always used my trusty Kleins

Hey lug. Loc-on has a new website and those old fold out seats can be upgraded to a nice cushion seat. I put one on my LEM and it is a whole different stand. I agree the old fold outs would cut off the blood to your legs after about a half hour. Loc-on with climbing stick for me.
buckmaster14a
Yeah epox, those fold outs are terrible. My legs fall asleep in about 20 minutes.

My favorite stand is one my cousin actually built by himself. Its a copy of a loc-on. Pretty cool, but loc-on in general is a great company.
critterkiller
I use my homemade lock ons. For about $200 I can buy enough material, tubing and expanded metal, to make about 10. If it starts squeakin' I just take it down and hit a few times with the welder.
If I have to use a climber it is the summit open shot. I bow hunt only so I don't like anything in front of me.
