What is the best way to use this call?

hen call, then gobble or what?
lugnut
it depends on where you hunt. if your on public land with lots of other people around; it's best used to play air drums with in the vehicle while your waiting on daylight. don't want to shake that thing in the public woods.

if on private land and there is a 0 percent chance of anyone else being in the area; then you use it to challenge other gobblers. when he gobbles, you gobble. there are many ways to use it but i consider it a last ditch effort call because i'm never 100 percent sure that there is nobody else around. cheers.gif

First and foremost BE CAREFUL. I agree with Lugnut, they make me nervous. Having said that, I have had success with them a couple different ways. Once I had 2 toms gobbling at each other but they would not come in to my hen calls. After about an hour I gobbled 1 time and they came right in. Maybe they were "funny." The other situation is when the tom hangs up out of range. I will hen call once, gobble right after it and then stop using the hen call.
Did I mention, BE CAREFUL?

thanks guys!

I tried the boss gobble one once and I saw the tom run away! lol

instead of just shaking it I used the push pull side.... lol

he didn't stick around.

I use a jake gobble here in Michigan late in the season. coupled with a hen call. biggrin.gif BUT.. I only hunt private land in the farm country where I know there are no other hunters around. It seems to work effectively after the birds have been hunted for 4-5 weeks. and the adult toms have been in the breeding "mode" for nearly two months. tongue.gif By then, they have heard ( and responded to) a lot of hen calls and either been spooked by hunters or had their butts kicked by boss toms. With the jake call coupled with a hen, it seems they just have to come see if a loose hen is really running around with some young jake. ohmy.gif It also brings in a lot of jakes that evidently feel comfortable responding to another jake at this time of the year. coolsmiley.gif

But don't try this at home if there are other hunters around. sad.gif

hey buck; some peoples idea of hunting turkeys is a method called stalking. they listen for turkey to gobble and try to sneak within shooting distance. it was this method that got my gradfather shot in a hunting preserve and left him paralized for 7 years before he died. if there are guys that say they hunt near there, i wouldn't even pack that thing. i'm not trying to come down on you or anything like that; i just don't want to see you get hurt. i've know a couple of guys that have gotten shot while turkey hunting and most of them were doing nothing more than sitting by a tree calling like a hen. when you put one of these gobble tubes in the mix, it can get deadly in a hurry. PLEASE be safe with that thing cheers.gif
