When comp. is added-- Prices drop across the region! In the end, the buyer is the only one who wins!

Still probably crap though! roflmao.gif

Yeah, I can't call anybody that ends up with a Moultrie a winner.

It is hard to beat that unit for that price. Inconsitant for time, but averages more than 6 seconds.
In general, quality has gone WAY UP on Moultrie products and price has gone down based on market share.

Well, if you like them so much, why don't you marry them?

Man, I haven't used that in a long time......LOL

I had asked the question early in my cam adventures why build when you can buy? I got some really good answers and am yet to buy a retail cam. I may one day just for comparison, but I still like the feeling I get when I view pics from something I had a hand in putting together.

I've never owned one, but I'm guessing those specs they post aren't anywhere near what you are going to get.

Like I said:

Those specs didn't come from hanging on a tree 1/4 mile into the swamp in -20F Mn winter weather....but my s600's didn't miss a beat all winter!

I ain't carrying no store bought out here!

Yeah, and you live im the balmy southern half of beautiful MN. I know you pretend to come up North when you hunt. LOL.....

I've never owned an overseas built "commercial" camera for several reasons. Almost bought a POS until a guy from work did..... and we couldn't get anyhing to work. It ended up being shipped back to a major retailer for a refund. That is how I found RDHC rule.jpg

My OPINIONS.

1. The ones I have seen didn't work very well, that's an understatement.

2. Quality of picture is not good, period, not opnion. Even with the spendy ones.

3. The technology Sony has invested in digital cams is HUGE.

4. I like building them.

5. Anything goes wrong, I can fix it, without sending it away.

6. I have yet to see one advantage of a commercial cam.

7. If there is an advantage to tech that is trying to catch up with us, please post.

I tried a few different commercial cams and was very disappointed. Why pay $79 for something that may or may not take pictures and when it does they may or may not look decent. I would rather pay $200 for parts, put it together myself, know it will take a picture everytime and they will look good everytime. (Unless I do something stupid.) bag.gif
The only good thing about the commercial crap is it led me to this forum and that has been fun. cheers.gif I have a Recon Talon that I kept. I don't put it in the woods, just leave it on the bench so I look at that piece of junk while I build good ones!
I wonder what it would cost to get Red's avitar for Daryl? Would you be satisfied if we didn't get a sight and the other accessories?

I think you missed my point or have taken it out of context.....
My point was that if someone only has $80.00 to kill, it is far better than anything else for $80-100

this will be the last time i say this "i'm with the yankee on this one" roflmao.gif

i've only had 2 comercial cams that worked. one was a cuddeback and the other was a 35mm made by the same company.

the cuddeback took some really good pictres. they weren't 400 dollar good. but that's what i payed for the camera. it served it's purpose for a year and only had 1 flaw that i could find. it took 1 white picture for every 50 pictures taken.

the 35mm worked flawlessly for 2 1/2 years. the olympus camera went bad last summer but i got over a thousand pictures out of it in that amount of time. i never got a false picture from that camera, never. my dad ran it for 6 months and had the same results as me. i've got some pictures from that camera that could compare to the homebrews but, it did use an olympus camera.

i still think the homebrew is the way to go. I CONTROL THE PRICE OF THE CAMERA I BUILD, how can you not like that. the pictures from my digital will beat any commercail camera that is sold today that is made with a noncomercial camera. there are some like camtraker that are essentially a high dollar homebrew that compare with the ones we make.

i guess i pretty much agree with all of you worthy.gif

Hey Red, you post another pic like that one with the two chicks crushing the springs on that truck again and I will insist you are banned from posting any more pics. rule.jpg LOL

If price is your concern here are a couple camera setups I made recently that are $100.00 or less. These cams and control boards, doesn't matter which board, or that we buy used cameras off Ebay/Pawn shops/Garage sales/Friends old cams, are virtually bullet proof and will kick a$$ on any comercial cam out there. No fancy promotions or ad campains just thousands and thousand of beautiful pictures.
