the steps i took to do these horns are as follows;
1, spraypaint the entire horn with either a berber or almund color.
2, apply a light coat of puritan pine wood stain form minwax. this coat will go from base to the tip of the tines.
3, next i applied a light coat of early american wood stain from minwax. this coat was heavier at the base and got thinner towards the tine. the tip of the tine just slightly changed color the coat was so thin.
4, with a small thin tiped paintbrush i applied heavy drips into the crevaces of the base with the special walnut wood stain from minwax.
5, i would dip the very tip of the brush into the walnut wood stain and then whip most of it off with an old towel then i would apply the slightest amount to the main beam and lower half of the tines. repeat this step to make darker.
here's what i got so far

i plan on taking some OOO steel wool to the entire antler (very lightly) to try and take some of the shine out of the horn.
what do you guys think so far
