We've always just broadcast shelled corn or either put the shelled corn in a feeder on a broadcast timer. Has anyone here ever put out corn while it's still on the cob, not only on the cob, but still in the husk (with the husk opened)?
A friend of mine grew around 10 acres of corn and has been telling me to come by and pull some. First, it 80 degrees when we leave work at 7 a.m. Second, pulling corn sounds like work. Third, I wouldn't think deer could eat it successfully while it was still on the cob. Am I right?
He did send me some trailcam pics of some impressive bucks in the corn pile. I don't see any of them actually eating the corn. They seem to be just in the corn. I'll have to ask for pics of them eating. I would have posted the pics he sent, but it's not letting save the pics.
The question again: Has anyone here ever used corn still on the cob to feed or attract deer?

Yeah, it's still in the husk, but in the pics he sent I can see where they did expose the corn by pulling the husks apart. He just didn't remove them.

Sure they will eat it out of the husks. That is how they eat it in the field. You can't do everything for them!

of course they will eat it out of the husks. I planted some corn in my garden last year and a doe went down the row each night and nipped 1 or 2 right off the stalk

I ended up with 1 piece of corn.
I am going to consider putting something on top of my camera too.... that seems interesting.....

I didn't think carolina boys did it any other way. Can't do it in GA it's illegal to bait here so we just put whole cornel corn out until a couple of weeks before the season begins if we will be hunting closeby.

I have feed the deer corn on the cob for two years and they loved it! So did the squrils, raccoons, opossums.... I haven't tried unshucked corn though!

I wouldn't bother shucking it. If anything they will be standing in front of your camera a little longer getting through the husks.

i find cobs laying on the ground every now and then when i walk around the property and a few years ago my dad actually had a deer walk by him with a cob in her mouth..she mustve been carryin it to safer grounds lol. but i know for a fact they eat them off the husk becuase my neighbor watches them every now and then out his back window..he said they just grab ahold and pull as hard as they can until it breaks loose.

If I may ask what is used to fill the Cam feeder?
Corn I believe, but is there and other additive? The deer seem to love it.

I have personally witnessed deer and turkey eating corn directly off the cob. It doesn't seem to slow them down much.
A friend of mine video taped a group of turkeys (all hens) eating corn off the stalk last fall while he was deer hunting. It was kind of funny - one turkey did all the work, while the others ate the corn as it fell on the ground. Every time the one pecking the kernels off the cob would get a bunch knocked off, she'd go to eat some, and they'd be gone!
