i have currently learned of a deer in the area that i hunt that would quit possibly make pope and young. the dilima is; i hunt on an airforce base that is completley inclosed by high escape proof fences. per the P&Y rules of far chase; what situation would i be in if i were to arrow the deer??

here is what they call fare chase

The term "Fair Chase" shall not include the taking of animals under the following conditions:

1 Helpless in a trap, deep snow or water, or on ice.

2 From any power vehicle or power boat.

3 By "jacklighting" or shining at night.

4 By the use of any tranquilizers or poisons.

5 While inside escape-proof fenced enclosures.

6 By the use of any power vehicles or power boats for herding or

7 driving animals, including use of aircraft to land alongside or to communicate with or direct a hunter on the ground.

8 By the use of electronic devices for attracting, locating, or pursuing game or guiding the hunter to such game, or by the use of a bow or arrow to which any electronic device is attached.

9 Any other condition considered by the Board of Directors as unacceptable.

what do you guys think. would he be allowed?
buckmaster14a
yes, but when you shoot him, throw him over the fence and say you shot him there :)

It seems to be black and white. A high fence is a high fence, whether it's on a ranch or base, imo.

Who cares if it gets into a book tongue.gif

i really don't care because i don't even think i'll see him but i thought it was interesting. it would be interesting to see what would happen if i killed him and he made P&Y and i have a pretty good feeling that he would. i didn't measure everything on these sheds but i did measure the bases and the tine lengths.

4 3/4 bases
the tines were all between 8 and 10 1/4 inches long and i can't remember how thick they were. i don't have a picture of this deer....yet. i'm taking my camera to work tomorrow to take pictures of the sheds if the guy still has them in his truck. they were found by a guy that i hunt near, we share information on the deer in the area. no one knows where he is but he and i biggrin.gif

The fence would not allow him to be in the books.

lucky for me that the same fence that was constructed to keep bad people out will keep the all the deer in. as for the books, i guess i'll have to get up to travis's honeyhole to kill a buck for the books cheers.gif

I take it there no opening in the fence. not sure if that even matters but it might. either way good luck with him. thats pretty cool that your allowed to hunt on base, how many acres is there? cheers.gif

Don't worry about the book. Enjoy the hunt. You can't change the fenceso just know that it was an ethical hunt and enjoy the trophy for what he is (that is if you can get him).

Acredge make a difference. For example, the King Ranch in Texax. High Fence and is allowed in P&Y because of the sheer size.

Good luck with him!

You can hunt it for a few complete s600 ir units biggrin.gif

i'm not sure what the size of the base is. but the woods only total a couple of hundred acres and are all broken up into small tracts. it's not totally fenced because one side is boardered by the bay.

on another note; i set the trap today to see if i can get a picture of this beast. i put out a p32 SSS combo over an oak tree and a persimmon tree. hopefully i will at least get to show you guys a picture of him feeding cheers.gif
buckmaster14a
check it yet? biggrin.gif
lugnut
it'll be this weekend. the area is only open to public access on weekends and federal holidays because they do some test live fire on the range that these woods surround
buckmaster14a
you are gonna have a 50 cal bullet hole right down the middle of your lense lug.... hopefully the memory card survives!
lugnut
that would not be good
xxkilla
I bet if you killed a deer on the mainbase it would qualify for P&Y
because of 1 the size and 2 it's not completly enclosed because of the miles of unfenced bay shore.
There is still a big gap in the fence at Toms Creek and no fence behind Val-P just a creek boundry.

I want to see the pics of the sheds you saw they sound very nice.

xx

i'm still working on getting the pics killa. they're amazing!!
