hey guys, does anyone know how good of quality the Browning micro 3, compound bow is? Is a 40 pound draw weight enough to hunt deer or other game?
lugnut
it will kill a deer but you don't want to make long shots with it and shot placement becomes more critical. if you hit a deer in the shoulder with 40lbs it may not penetrate, depending on the speed and kenetic energy produced by the bow

Good little economical bow. They were discontinued, but brought back for 2008 due to price point.

The Micro Midas 4 is a lot nicer bow. I sell them everyday for $210.00 and an even nicer bow is the Diamond Edge around $250.00 or so.

What exactly are you trying to do? Yourself or a woman/child?

yankee, let say you were gonna buy a bow for a women, what bows are available that she could handle?

That is a loaded question.
My answere is 100% based on price point and goals.
For example, my wife is tiny. She can realy only shoot 30lbs, but with her Bowtech Equalizer shoots over 200fps with a 300 grain arrow to produce 30lbs of kinetic energy. That is pleanty of energy for a well placed shot, but has non to spare. She is hunting and that is what works best for her. She drills 2" groups far beyond 20 yards.
The falw with a rig like this is they are not cheep or remotely economical.

A sweet shooting bow designed with a buget concious mind is the Diamond Edge or Cutter. The reason I say these is they are MUCH quieter than any Browning, Alpine, Parker, etc.. with a similar cam design and as fast or faster.
The old PSE Spyder single cam was a fast bow, but pulled VERY hard for a child or woman.

I'm a teen. I heard a friend was selling his bow for a cheep price so I went to see it an hour ago. I thought that the 40lb. draw would be enough earlier, but when I pulled it back, it was in my opinion a little small for me. I was just curious how good of a deal it was at the time. Thanks for the info guys!
