The 2 day youth hunt in Missouri was last weekend. Both my boys had a great hunt. This is my 9 year old son's first deer. It has a some little points around the base with a total of 13 scorable points. He was pretty excited.

Here is my 11 year old's deer. It is his 5'th deer but his best by far. It is a nice even 8 point that is actually a little wider and heavier than his brother's, even though it doesn't look that way from the pictures.

Thanks guys. I told them we would do european mounts on them. I am actually going to have them mounted but I want to surprise them. I finished butchering them yesterday and it looks like I might actually get to hunt some myself this year. I love taking them out hunting and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world but it will be kind of nice to hunt alone a little bit too. cheers.gif

Those are some lucky boys to have a dad to take them out hunting, but to also bag bucks like that. At that age my dad had my brother and I walking with sticks banging the brush and lighting off firecrackers to drive the deer to he, my uncle and grandpa.

lol, well he watches a lot of hunting shows so he must learn something from those guys. What he learns from me is pretty limited.
No doubt he has the fever bad. He killed his first when when he was 8, one at 9, and last year he killed two. He bought his own muzzle loader last year with his lifes savings so he can hunt an extra week.
The 9 year old hasn't shown as much interest. He went last year and was looking forward to this year but nothing like his older brother. After shooting that one I think he is hooked though. Definitely the most excited I have ever seen him over anything.
I have hunted my whole life and have killed a lot of deer but nothing compares to the thrill I get when the boys score. Seeing that 13 pt. go down was the highlight of my hunting experiences.
All I can say is take those kids to the woods! Even if they only last 30 minutes, be happy for that 30 minutes with them.

Trap,
Somehow I missed this post of yours. bag.gif Oh well, better late than never. Great deer. Great experiences for the boys coolsmiley.gif . Looks like you have them started in the right direction for the future. worthy.gif These are experiences they will never forget and will keep them tied to the "real world" more than anything else you can do with them. cheers.gif
