Hey Matt, I'm also a NYer. I hunt mostly in 7M now cause my brother and I have land there. We did a small food plot this year and it had deer during bow season. I missed twice. Once it was on the dark side and once it jumped the string. Opening day of gun had snow but no deer at the plot so I hunted my parcel without food plot and jumped a big deer but couldn't see if it was a buck and probably better that I didn't shoot. I have hunted the Adirondacks and Catskills. Your turn tell me about your area. Any other NY hunters jump in and let's get a NY chat going. Im From The Albany NY Area - i hunt 4y -Columbia County - lots of farm land - took a nice big doe last night- she weighed in at 152 lbs field dressed her belly was full of 17 apples that looked as if she swallowed whole and about 1lb of corn- havnt seen any bucks since bow season and with limited time off of work this year - had to get some meat - now ill spend any time I got looking for antler -

Well first off ill start with saying im 15 and been hunting sence i was 4 with the family.This is my second year out bowhunting and absolutely love it.Next year ill finally be able to use a shotgun during the regular deer season.Me my uncles,aunts,and grandpa hunt the land behind his house which is around 38 acres.Just a basic woods with field.Seen around 15 deer while in the woods so far this year 3 of them were bucks but with no shot.One spike,small 6 or 8 pt and a big 8 or 10 point that had about 10-12" tines!What do you know?He was running in the field while we were across the road talking to the neighbor .Opening day of shotgun was this past saturday which i can only hunt with my bow but total my gramps saw a spike and it looked like a 8 pt at 134 yards.Passed the shot because he was on a dead run,sighted in at 100 yards and there is a beef cow lot about 250 yards away from his stand so he didnt take it to be on the safe side of things.Things around here have been really weird with the way the deer are moving.Last year they would run all night for most of the time then go in to bed all day.Hopefully someone gets pushin em a little bit so they start running .Best of luck to all of you who get out there!

From Albany myself....I hunt mostly with the bow all year in Albany county. I've had my sights set on one nice 8 point all year and he's still avoided me. Did a little shotgunning in schoharie this saturday..shot a doe. Not much action in the southern zone. I've seen a 5, 6, twin crotch horns, and the 8 that run through my area. I've got some of them on trail camera but I've got the old 35mm. no digital yet. Glad to see the NYer's on here.

Check this site out webs - its an albany based hunting site- Huntingnuts.com - i think youd like it - right now i live in slingerlands - but i just bought a house in East greenbush - i usually hunt columbia county and rennselear county - but i also do some bow in albany county - lots of deer being taken , several big bucks as well - i just havent been able to hunt much b/c of work - i hope to see a buck this w/e though

Grew up in Syracuse (live in Rochester now) and hunt in Union Springs, Lodi, and Tully.

Live in Oswego County, I hunt in 7M-7J and 7F....

I just finished shooting (video) for a new History Channel show on bow hunting and am really interested in pursuing it myself. I have little experience with hunting (going to hunter safety course next weekend) and want to hook up with experienced hunters to show me the ropes.

Any suggestions for a novice hunter?

yea i live in essex county goog hunting takes 6 8 guys make some good drives to get a deer we love hunting but enjoy southern teir but where we usta hunt is posted now nice site maybe this will help us find other land to hunt we hunt 3m if any one can help let me no thanks
