reconyx and buckeyecam lead the pack in trigger speed - and yes they are that fast.
I wasn't that pleased with the lower resolution and monochrome daytime pics but they trigger fast. Plus reconyx seemed to have programming issues from time to time. Lots of updates and reprogramming. Right out of the box it stayed in "lapse mode" which could not be turned off so you have to reprogram the unit.
The rc55 had more problems than the rc45 - really poor transitions between day and night which left you with some real bad pictures.

$1000.00 cameras they had better give you a kiss after every picture taken! Funny part about it is they look like the same pictures my digitals take @ less than $150.00 each.

I have the Rm 45 reconyx yes the images are black and white but with the newest late 2007/2008 model which I have has been flawless in performance. The B/W pictures are sharp and clear with over 40Ft + of IR at night. Some of the first RM's out had alittle line look to the night pictures time to time, but that seems to be a thing of the past now with the newest filmware out. I bought the camera because I needed a IR camera that would last well over a month and take near 5000 pictures on one set of C batteries with fast trigger speed. My S600 home brews and other commerical cams weren't doing that for me. The Rm45 appears like it goings to meet all those needs for me it is also well built and easy to program. Trigger speed is to fast to measure and PIR will reach past 80+ft it's a unreal great wide line of sight PIR. I paid $429 for mine. Overall I feel it's about the best commerical cam out there at this time.
