i need trapping ideas for bobcat and fox

Have you used foot hold traps in the past and if so what did you trap? It would take a long time to answer your question from start to finish if you include trap selection, tuning the traps, cleaning and protecting the traps, location selection, set type, baits and lures, keeping the sets working in wet/cold weather, etc. If you already know about all that stuff and just want a set idea 90% of my fox and bobcat sets are a simple dirt hole set. Dig a hole 4" in diameter 12" deep at a 45 degree angle. Do this in front of some type of backing like a clump of grass, a rock, log or whatever. The idea is to make the animal work the set from the side with the trap. Bed the trap in front of the hole with the center of the pan about 6" from the lip of the hole. Put the bait or lure in the hole and stick a wad of grass in the hole. Sprinkle some red fox urine around.
If you haven't trapped much I would strongly recommend getting a book or two. Hal Sullivan has an excellent series of books. Trapline 2000 or Canines 2000 would both be great books to start with. Lots of pictures and easy to understand. I would also join Missouri Trappers Assoc. The membership comes with a subscription to Trapper & Predator Caller magazine that also has a lot of good info in it.
