I have been hunting at this field for about a month. The first time I went I saw about 8 does with little ones. I shot at the biggest doe twice, the first time I shot over her back then the 2nd time i shot under her. Well I keep going back to the same spot trying to get this doe. I have already killed a 4 point in october. I was sitting in my stand and at 3:58 the two does came out but they were at the other side of the field so I waited, then another came out with a little one then a spike came out but of course they went to were the big does were. I have been trying the whole time calling the does to the end I was at. They never came my way. By 5 they were gone back in the pine thicket. So I was sitting in my stand at 5 and decided to try and call them back out, they didnt come out. At 5:30 this buck just started running toward me so I got ready, he stopped about 15 yards in front of me so I pulled my bow back thinking he was gonna take another step and be dead in front of me but he didnt. So I had turn side ways so I could shoot him. I shot him and I heard it him and I was so excited. This was the first time I killed a deer being by myself. I got down out of the stand and walked to my husband's stand which is 450 yards straight across but I had to walk down the road to the field he was in. It did not take me that long to get there bc i was speed walking very fast bc i was so so excited. We went to track him and didnt find any blood for about 30 min.
Finally we found some briars with blood on it, so we tracked lil amounts of blood. It was really hard tracking in the pine thicket due to the orange needles on the ground. It wound up takin us about 30 min to track 100 yards or so. We found the arrow and it had good blood on it and about 10 yards away was a huge bodied buck. Couldnt believe how big it was. He weighed 202lbs.That buck was also shot on the last day of bow season last year. The guy only skinned him. We were so excited, and I was so proud of her. She is out doing me and alot of other guys. But all we do is bowhunt and this is her 2nd deer.
His right main beam got pushed back prolly from hitting a low pine branch running from a yote. We have pics of him from last year and then this year with it messed up in velvet. Its ashamed it got messed up, but its still a trophy buck.
