I intend to grub out an approx 1-acre, very irregular, section of a saddle on a mountain in North Central PA. It presently is low and thick laurel, some scrub pine, several small oaks, a little birch and aspen with lots of thicket. It is rocky and probably acidic soil. The location is remote and after grubbing and planting it needs to maintain itself.
The land has lots of game but little open areas near the cabin to set up stands with decent visibility. Can wander around the mountain but would like to have some stand hunting near the cabin.
Can anyone suggest what to plant after grubbing. The section would need a "castable" product.

Thanks
