From now until about September. Close to deer travel routes. I have found that if you locate it between bedding and feeding area that is secluded the deer will use it any time of the day.

Tarheeler,
How long have they been hitting yours? I have not seen much action on mine yet. Maybe I need to find better locations.

Only have seem to be at it more for a week or two now
I've just noticed a lot of tracks around them last couple of times down there
I keep mine freshened up at least every other month year round

Just freshened them up last week --- look at the date

Here ya go :) :)

I put mine in a mud hole type erea= this place was where the rootball of a blown over tree was and left a depression that held water -so they drink the water while its wet and eat the dirt when its dry
I have them on the edge of my foodplots-
I have put every thing from icecream salt to deer cane - black magic etc
Now I have Dicalcium phoosphate-salt -minerals etc

My salt blocks are being hit alot now also. i have trails running into the field my salt block is in, and its half gone already... and pawed at a bit. The field looks like it was stampeded.. Cant wait to hunt it in bow season.
