Got this carcass from my comparative anatomy teacher. she has been thinking about taking it to a taxidermist to get it cleaned and re-assembled. i told her that me and my boyfriend would give it a shot and she was more than happy to let us try. she said it wasnt a loss if it doesnt turn out....so fingers crossed. right now its soaking in water in a sealed container. the leather was so mummified to the bones that there just wasnt any other way to get it off (smells great!) . after cleaning the skin off we plan on boiling it out in sections. than....the long task of glueing and wireing the whole skeleton together. its gunna be like a jig-saw puzzle!! laugh.gif

we think its a Gray fox...anyone think differently?

You will have a challenge with that. Good luck.

The paws will be the toughest part.

At one time I was thinking about re-articulating a bear paw after my beetles had stripped the tissue off it.

It still isn't done. bag.gif

Did that with a cat for a biology class in high school. Not something I'd ever want to do again.
My buddy and I actually lost both of the kneecaps. We ended up using tiny pebbles instead. Haha! Got an A though.

Good luck you two!

haha well...the boiling starts friday or saturday, however i get the fun task of dumping out the carcass soup and picking the bones clean on wednesday (tomorrow).

I believe my canine anatomy book will come to good use for this whole project!

We've both been really busy lately and haven't been able to work on this too much. We finished the spine and the skull. We still have all the pieces though for the rest of it. With school, work, our chickens, and archery season coming up we haven't had much time to sit and work on it.
