I got up this morning at 4:50am and i was picked up at 5:15. We got to our location we were gonna hunt at about 5:30. We walked in and I put out my 2 decoys, a semi strut jake and a hen. We waited a little bit and i got out my owl call and gave a few hoots, and a bird answered about 300 yards away off near a green field. As the sun started peeking up, the guy i was hunting with gave some soft tree yelps. Then, we just sat tight. As the sun got higher he got a bit louder on the box call and i joined in with my glass call. The only bird we were hearing was the one 300 yards off, but he was now on the ground and in the green field. at about 6:50 we heard a gobble off behind us, so we decided to make a move on these birds. The guy i was hunting with backed up 100 yards or so, and ii went and sat up with my decoys off a fourwheeeler path. When i got settled a got out my call again and yelped. Right after, i was answered by 4 birds less than 40 yards away. I gave some purrs and clucks after that and sat my call down and poped in the mouth call. They gobbled while they came in but they shutup for a little bit, so i picked up the glass and purred some more. The next time they gobbled I looked and saw them all struttting in the 4 wheeler path 35 yards off and closing the distance. I yelped witth my mouth call and they all gobbled again. I was in a bad position becuase there was a tree blocking my gun and the birds.... With the birds all starring at my semi strut decoy, i raised my gun straight up and maneuvered it around the tree and got on a bird. I held it on them for 5 minutes or more while they stayed back around a fallen tree thatt had fallen across the path. With my mouth call, i yelped a bit and did a few kee-kee runs, and they all gobbled again. But then one started a clucking comotion and he others started getting antsy... so i told my self, "now or never". I coaxed one bbird back to the tree and when he got to my shhoooting lane I pulled the trigger and he flopped down and went off down a hill. I took off after him reloading my gun. When i got to him he was laying facing me with his head up cluckin and puttin. I approached and he took offf again. He did tthis 3 times when finally i decided to end it and give him another shot. Bird down!
