I raked out this 20x20 spot today and spread some fertilizer and seed (clovers, chickory, rye-grain, turnips, rapeseed). Not much sunlight hits this spot but mother nature has always had something grow there every summer so we'll see if my quick plot can produce anything.

I raked it down pretty good and hit it again with the rake after I seeded. I also stomped around on it for a while to try to press the seeds in a bit. I'm certain the ph is on the acidic side.

Now we'll wait and see. Maybe I'll shoot the big buckster from this tiny plot come fall laugh.gif

Should work Steve.Keep us posted with pics of the plot's progress. Looks like if you would have gotten any more snow you would have had to shovel the snow before planting.

I did have to rake back a little snow Tom. I have a cam set up on the site so we will have pictures of it's progress all summer. I have one other spot that gets a lot more sun where I am going to try this same thing. I might spray the the other spot first and see if I can't get a tiller back there, add some lime too. I think if they grow these mini polts could be a great place for some pics and perhaps a spot to get that deer to stop for just a moment,,,,,,,,, while I realease an arrow wink.gif

I was thinking of doing something similar. I have 2 different spots in heavy forested area that are sort of open. I figured on sprayin them a couple of times to kill every thing off, throw some lime down and plant late summer or early fall. Maybe one of the Big Boys will show up at these plots in the Daylight. Going to be a busy summer as I have to get a few bait sites set up for my Bear hunt also.

Looks like good, dark soil. You were a busy boy today!

The mini plot is growing. Certainly it will have evrything else that grows here normaly since I didn't do any weed kill'n, but the stuff I planted has started to sprout too.
