So I was able to have some success for my last turk hunt of the year. It was WI's season 6 the last period of the year. I headed to a new area in the NE part of the state as I have family that live around there. Since I had to be there to visit in-laws for the long weekend I was glad I could nab a tag and get out for some hunting.
My cousin is quite the turk fiend and set me up with some places to check out. We found a hot bird Sat morning and after watching him strut and drum and gobble for about 20 minutes he finally committed to coming in, when I gave him an Xtended range shot sandwich for his final meal.
Probably a 3 year old bird; 1 inch spurs, 20lbs, but had 2 beards - one 11 inches.
For the first time in a while I am feeling like my turkey hunting itch has been scratched for the time being, this was a great last hunt of the year.
