The chance of frost in Wisconsin is finally done [I think]. So I planted my Soybean Plot this weekend. Planted 3 acres of Eagle Seed WildLife Managers Mix. Last year it took a little while for the deer to figure out that The Soybeans were good but then proved to be a very good attraction. Looking forward to see how this mix will do in our Northern Climate and growing season.Did the whole plot with my ATV, ATV disc and ATV Spreader. Took the better part of Yesterday to get it done but it was something that I enjoy doing.

Before pic. Remnants of last years Soys.

Seed and Equipment.

After Discing one time.

Finished plot.

I broadcast the seed, then disc the seed in to cover it, my disc has wheels that allows me to set how deep I want to disc or in this case how deep I want to bury seed. After that I cultipacked it to make sure that I had good seed to soil contact.

It is made by Loyal-Roth. It has worked flawlessly so far. Simple drive for the wheels. I have spread Brassica seed with it and it did a very good job on the small seed. Ran a 3000 lbs of pelletized lime thru it

Is this one the same? We have a tractor supply being built and should be open soon.

From what I can see, it looks the same. Loyal-Roth might make them for Tractor Supply.

The soybeans are up and growing. We had plenty of rain now we need some hot weather. Weeds are starting to grow but those will be taken care of when I spray.

Terrific_tom
Well it has been 3 weeks since I planted the soybeans. Had really good germination and the plants are about 3 to 4 inches tall. We have had plenty of rain but not much warm weather mostly in the 70's. As you can see I had some weed growth and volunteer Rye so I sprayed the plot. I would of liked to have wait another week but I will be gone on vacation the next 2 weekends.

Captiveone
TT, It should work out assuming the deer let some of them get away from them in the next few weeks. coolsmiley.gif

looking great tom

Looking good Tom. I wish I had that much flat land to work with.
Terrific_tom
The spraying last week has almost all the weeds dead or dieing. We had some warm weather but we could use a whole bunch more to kick the beans into high gear. Didn't notice any browsing yet, but with the lush clover and browse from all the rain we have been having I can see why. Got a little growth this week but not much.

Terrific_tom
The Soybeans are doing very well. We finally had some warm humid weather. The deer are just starting to browse on them.

Took some pics of the Soybean Plot this weekend. With the warmer and more humid weather the plot has really took off. I am very happy how this plot is doing.
