Hey guys, I have a Ripcord drop away rest and have attached the release cord with the little "football" that comes with it. I am waiting on a new string and cables, when that comes in I would like to serve or tie the release cord into the cable, does anyone have a method or pictures to properly do that? Thanks!

No pictures, but here is how I do it.

1. Relax the bow cable by pressing the bow.
2. Split the cable in half about mid grip or lower.
3. Slide the drop away cord into the cable where it is split leaving about an inch (depending on how long the cable is) sticking out the back side of the cable
4. Fluff up the end sticking out the back side and burn it so it makes a nice big ball to where it won't slide through the cable.
5. Take the bow out of the press and pull the rest cord until the burned ball end is up against the cable.
6. Serve in knots just like you serve in the nock points on each side of the rest cord to keep the cord from sliding up or down in the cable.
7. Make timing adjustments on the rest itself by shortening/lengthening the cord as needed to get the rest to come up completely in the last 1 1/2" - 2" of the draw cycle.

Hope that helps!

That's what I thought...thanks for verifying, that sounds clean.

What type of bow? If it's a Mathews all you have to do is slip the burnt end of the drop away cord through the cable under the roller guard where the serving for the guard ends.
LSmountainman
It is a Mathews and this is what I came up with, how does it look? It works nicely...

That will work but it's unneccssary. All you have to do is slide the burnt end of the dropaway rope up to where the serving ends on the cable for the roller guard(spot circled in pic). No other serving or snotters are needed. This is how I've done all the Mathews bows I've set up. Never a problem.

How much cord do you have? I assume just enough to make the rest work huh?

I sent you a PM Lance....

Pics of mine...

What you do to get the correct length is pull a long length of the cord through the cable and then draw the bow. It will pull enough of the cable through while pulling the launcher up all the way.
Let the bow down. Mark the spot at the cable where the cord is now. You could just grab the cord at that spot and pull it through and then cut it just past where you are holding it.
Pat the end that you just cut. This will fray it so when you burn it you will have a nice ball. While the burn ball is still hot and soft touch the side of lighter against it. This will flatten it out some. Dab it with some spit to cool it off and you're done.

If you want to drop away to raise later and drop faster cut the cord a bit longer. Just make sure it comes all the way up when you are done.

yes, sliding the drop away cable up to where the serving on the cable ends will work on most drop aways, but not on the QAD rests...

I am using a Ripcord so I may be in good shape doing it that way.
