I need some help. I have 2 clippings that i would like to root,

A clipping from a persimmon tree
A clipping from a crab apple tree

Right now i have them each in a vase of water... Is there anything else i need to do?

Trav i aint gonna say it can't be done - But it's gonna be very tough to root those treee's from a cutting-IMO
You would probaly be better off to find some small saplings and mark them now and dig them this winter when the sap is down- Just a suggestion- I've never seen persinnomin's but I've gotten 2 crab apple trees at the Local stores during the spring (Big Lots( 1 Evelyn and 1 Profusion crabapple)) for 10 bucks a piece that have grown fast a set fruit the second year in the ground..Here what one of my crab apples looked like this year

But if you do try get some Rootone (rooting hormone) and put the clippings in some sand and peat or similar
lugnut
go to a nursery and buy some root hormone. i think it's a gel. put a little on the end of the cutting then put it in a little plastic bag with some soil in it. if that doesn't do it then i don't know what will

I'm going to forestry and wildlife camp tomorrow, so ill fix it when i get back but right now tey are still really alive in the vases, not turning brown yet... we'll see.
