A guy on another site was asking about plans for building a treestand. Here's one I just finished this morning. I used 16' treated 2x4's for the ladder. Not only is each step nailed with screw shank galv nails, I've also put a gusset on each side of every step. The platform measures 30" wide x 36" deep. I used 1" box tubing with expanded metal on top. All told, start to finish, I had between 4-5 hours in this & $50 in material. Course, I already had all the steel, so that's probably another $25-50 if I had to go buy it.

I cut a 15 degree angle on top & bottom of the 2x4's & put every step on a 15 degree angle as well as the platform. That way everything is level when it's leaned against the tree.

I used an old pair of house door hinges to attatch the platform to the ladder. Welded one half to the platform & used a bolt through the other half. I done it this way so I could #1 remove the platform if need be & #2, I can take the braces loose & fold the platform down for transport.

If you're going to build a stand like this one, you need to have a buddy like I do to help you put it up. 6'6" & 330#. He said it's the most solid stand he's ever been in. He was dancing around on this thing.

I also started building a pair of elevated shooting houses this weekend. Getting a pretty good handle on the first one.

I was struggling with what I was going to put on this thing as far as siding went. Then I was at an auction last week & found about 3 square of redwood siding for $10. That will never rot.
I'm primarily a bowhunter, but do rifle & ML hunt as well. I plant 20 acres of food plots every year & the late season is some of the best hunting on my place. These will allow me some comfort to hunt in when the weather would normally keep me at home.
These are 5' deep & 6' long. 7' tall in the front & 6' tall in the back. The windows will have shoot through mesh during bow season & removable plexiglass during rifle season. I'll post more pics as I make progress.

Great stands! I also like seeing the USA quality into those stands. Neat idea with the door hinges.
