i think i'm going to buy some slick tricks and leave the thunderheads behind. i've never got a real good blood trail with the THs and i'm starting to think that a 4 bladed broadhead would create a more uniformed hole. what do you guys think?

I'm leaving Thunderheads this year for the same reason. They've done there job without question, but the bloodtrails have been average at best. I'm going to try 2-blade Rage this year...you can't argue with their results!

i got to see what the 3 blade rages could do this past year. my hunting buddy shot his first whitetail with one and it looked like a murder scene. i just can't get past the fact that they have to open up. i know they work 99 percent of the time but i'm 1 percent type of guy

I bought the 2 blade Rage to try this year. I got one and lost one last year with ST. I blame shot placement for the one I lost, so I would say the ST did its job on the first one. I would have liked more blood on the ground considering I'm in pines most of the time. A speck here and there makes me nervous.

Slick Tricks are cool and they have a cult following it seems. Are you going to try the old style or that new cut on contact looking head they have?

Waaaay too far forward. The arrow actually hit her right front leg on exit. It didn't pass through and I found it maybe 50 or 60 yards into the woods. I trailed specks of blood for maybe 1/4 mile. I never found her.
On a brighter note, I believe I saw her a month later at the same stand. So, I'm thinking she lived.

that sounds just like the shot i put on my first deer last year. she was quartering slightly and i didn't pick up on it. i put the arrow and inch behind her front shoulder and let it fly. it came out her left shoulder and she didn't leave squat for blood. trailed her close to 200 yards on hands and knees before she started bleeding good and we found her 20 yards after that. what a night, i thought for sure i was going to loose her and couldn't figure out why. until i found her i had no idea that the shot came out her left shoulder

1 1/8 inch slick tricks are what I used last year. Full pass thru was like a fire hydrant.
