Usually I spray the plots that I an going to plant Brassicas in twice once in June and then again in mid July for a end of July planting. Well I ran short of Glyphosate when I sprayed in June. The area that didn't get sprayed the grass got quite tall by the time I sprayed in Mid-July but the glyphosate still killed it when I sprayed in July. I disced the plot but where the high grass was there was alot of dead grass laying on top of soil when I got done discing. I cultipacked every thing and then broadcasted the Brassica seed and then cultipacked again. Thought that the dead grass laying on top of the dirt would help hold moisture in soil and help as we only had less than a half inch of rain this month up until today. Well the seed germinated and is growing as well as expected except in the area where the dead grass was. There is only sparse growth in the area. Maybe with the rain today it will start filling in. Here are some of the pics from this plot and another brassica plot that I planted the same time.

1 3/4" of rain here last night, we really needed it. Hope it gives your plots a boost Tom.

Tom,

Is Glyphosate a grass killer only? I also planted Brassica with a cover blend and a lot of grass came up. I bought some grass killer but it was $20 for a pint or so.

Once the first heavy frost the Brassica sure disappeared fast.

Glyphosate is also AKA as roundup. Its an evertything killer. Except round-up ready corn or soybeans.
