Little competition for the homebrews? You can get them new off of AT for $175TYD. Got one and man they are super fast! Anybody have opinions?

i had the older nontypical 35mm from them. that new digital is in the same case now and the case is good. i never had that 35mm leak so that should be one problem that they have overcome.
that being said i still wouldn't buy one myself. i like being able to know a little something about the trail cameras that i use, like how to fix them if they quit or if a bear chews one up.
i haven't seen any pics from them yet but i would bet that the sonys that most of us use are way better in pic quality and durability.
the 35mm i have is the quickest camera that i've seen so if speed was the issue i would still be using 35mm but i believe that with the fresnal lenses and a better understanding of how fast a camera really needs to be to be affective; super fast cams are falling by the wayside and picture quality seems to be what people want.

lug, I've got two of them to put out and they are lightning fast. Probably just as good as the old 35mm...near instant. Of course you do not have the pic. quality of the homebrew (which is very nice to have). And the flash is pretty good and they are supposed to be easy on the batteries. We will see, hard to beat homebrews still.

How long does it take for the unit to record the 1st pic and be ready for another ?

Uh, less than a second at night and the shortest delay is 30 seconds.
I am not trying to say this is better than a homebrew camera, just that for $175 TYD it is pretty nice (I hope).

As far as I know the refresh at night ( day not sure ) is around 1 minute

I think that one limitation of them is that they are a single picture(event) camera right ?
so the best (highest) rate of picture taking is one/minute ?

Correct, just a single picture camera. But it is 30Sec. not 1 minute. This is fine by me, even on my homebrews I only use the single picture mode.

30 secs is pretty fast.
what kind of battery life are you observing ?

They claim the 2000 pictures per 4 D battery, but I have not been able to test that yet. I have a few sitting here to sell and will bust one open and see how many pictures it gets.

Great pics IMO. And I honestly thought the scoutguard pics. looked like crap. The IR distance did not look to far.
Cuddeback looks to back on track with the Capture. The camera seems to be performing well.
I actually don't think the Scoutguard daytime pics are anywhere near as bad as you make them out to be....but then again, I'm not selling the Capture either.
Probably the best commercial cam in terms of whiteflash nite pic quality right now is the Stealth 590. It has a booming flash and good clear pics.

I am not trying to sell the capture. I have just seen IR (I was imposing night not day) pics. from the scoutguard and they looked like crap. Looked like the IR maybe reached out to 25 feet. Now the daytime pics were great, and the video is awesome. I have two coming myself, was not trying to run them into the ground.

I know, hence the >>>>>

It's nice to see cudde putting out a good product again.
If they make a few programing changes/options on the Scoutguard it will be a pretty nice cam.
