Well tonite my wife put a arrow in the buck my son Cole had as his target buck.I checked the camera this morning and this buck was in eating the crab apples at 6:29 this morning.I told her she needed to get out there tonite for I felt he was bedded not very far from the blind beings he was still on his feet this late in the morning.The wind was perfect for this setup also.
I was busy farming and told Cole to go with her,sure enough MR. 5 by 5 popped up out of a willow slough about 150 yards away and came right in giving her a broadside shot.Cole said she hit him right behind the shoulder with some of the arrow still sticking out,long story short we went back few hours later and were not able to find any blood,Cole said he ran across the field and entered another willow/cattail slough.We will resume search in the morning,wish us luck.Heres picture from this morning.

Any updates Mike??

Well we found some blood this morning,but not lots.One spot where he must have stopped there was a fair amount of blood,the trail fizzled out eventually The wife is really down,I have a tower stand out back that her and my son Cole are in right now hopeing to see any scavenger activity.There was 5 magpies cruiseing around this morning,hopeing to spot them doing there buisness if by chance this buck is dead.Wish us luck,plan to do another ground search tomorrow.

update,we have had no luck finding this deer,hopeing now he is still alive,time will tell.

Hopefully he survived and will make it through. Animals are pretty tough critters as we all know. Keep an eye out...and tell Mrs. J that these things happen and to keep her chin up!
