It is probably related to the big buck that they had video of at Buffalo County Outfitters (I think that was the name). There was a lot of speculation that he would be the largest typical ever if harvested. I'm pretty sure I saw the link to the video here, as well as all the other sites I go to, so if he was killed, it will be out there really quickly.

I just got an email a little bit ago from a pal who lives in Red Wing, MN, which is pretty close to Buffalo County, WI. I asked him to give me some more details about what he heard, from the email he got he knows a guy who knows the fellow that shot this buck. Maybe this is what you heard about. Regardless, this is a giant.

This is some of the footage from an outfitter in Buffalo County I saw that got people talking in Aug., from the vid and pic this could be the same critter:

Here is the picture my pal just sent along with this description:
"The photo's attached. Preliminary (off the record) estimates on the score put it between 234-237, and they think it's typical (which, as you probably already know, would make it a world record)."

The Field & Stream Buck?

Maybe.

Bob Decker of Eau Clarie, WI arrowed this giant in Buffalo County, the same county mentioned in the now famous Field & Stream video showing a huge buck in velvet reported to contend as the next World's Record typical. It is reported that this buck was taken a half-mile from where the live video was taken.

There are a couple of non-typical points on the left antler and at least one on the right side so there will be lots of deductions from the gross score. Have to wait and see what the final net score will be.

Here are some more pictures.

In looking at these pictures, there are three non-typical points on the right side and two on the left. There could be a third non-typical on the left depending on whether it is determined if a common-base situation exists at the base of the G3.

Im my opinion, this buck is a very typical looking non-typical that could score as much as 240, maybe 245. He won't be a new world record but he is spectacular buck regardless.

My congratulations to the hunter. cheers.gif

It is a small world. His wife is a chiropractor and she purchased a practice down there somewhere I think in Red Wing, its why they moved there.

He works but only not to be bored, she makes mad money. He hunts like a fiend. I hate him.

I totally agree with you on that, but my step dad can't belive anything I say concerning deer. If the paper says its a typical than the newspaper knows more than I would.
