Finally got me a good one after passing up a ton of small 8's and a pretty big 7. He came by trotting looking for a doe but didnt quite make it to their bedding area biggrin.gif Just for giggles what do you think he would score? I will try to score him in the next few weeks.

That is a beauty! What part of VA were you hunting? I used to hunt private land in Loudoun County but also hunted the Blue Ridge south of Front Royal.

Thats a nice buck. I lived in VA for a little while and never saw a buck that nice anywhere in the state. I am guessing that it would score around 140 or so.

Thanks for the compliments fellows. I killed this deer on public land in grayson county. Its a huge chunk of public that if you ended up getting lost and walking the wrong way you could walk between 12 and 15 miles before you hit a road. Theres no fields or anything close. Had a great acorn crop this year, unlike the last 3, and the deer finally moved backed in. We have been seeing several small 8's this year, a few 4's and 6's and a ton of spikes but letting them grow. We know of another deer in there that is alot bigger than him that I seen the same day before I killed him. He was a big 10 that was nudging around 4 does but 1 of the does seen me and commenced to stomping and snorting a mere 35 yards away for about 10 min. Him and the 3 other does never seen me and he never seemed bother by the commotion as he was nudging them and grunting. But I knew if I moved she would have been out of there and taken them with her. It was a heart breaker but it took my breath watching a animal of that size wondering if he had ever even seen a human before. We put 7 cameras out so hopefully when we go back I will have a pic of him. Good luck fellows and safe hunting.
