Full Version: Some big MN boys taken up by my cabin
Real Deal Hunting Chat > Hunting > Big Game Hunting
MN_Whitetail
A new guy(cousins fiance) to my family's hunting party shot his first deer ever on his first year. His buck was shot on my property. My Uncle shot his biggest to date at some public land that no one else hunts but us. Both big old 9 pointers. Enjoy
ShedEgo gets to do the shoulder mount for my cousin's fiance and I'm doing a euro mount for my uncle. Our first customers. smile.gif

Greg's 9 pointer

Uncle Mike's 9 pointer

Together

Friend of the family, Davie, is just as excited as they are!

Looks like a successful weekend.

The neighbors got a 10 point too and I guess there is a 14 point running around where my uncle shot his. Plus the neighbors saw a 14 point by my cabin too. Must be a year for the big ones.

Congrats on some fine looking bucks!!

Great bucks! Looks like you made a lifelong hunter out of your cousin's fiance too!

Nice bucks. Did you get the fiance's buck on camera?

I like the neck shot on the other deer too biggrin.gif

Wasnt a neck shot on the other one. He slit the throat to bleed the deer...alot of hunters do this, though im not sure why. If you gut the deer there shouldnt be a need to slit the throat.

They cut the throat to get the jugular(spelling) out. They say its easier to get it out that way. I haven't put cameras on my land all year. We've been hunting that buck for 2 years though.

sorry hun, but theres no reason to get the jugular out. the Jugular is a vein just like any other large vein in the deers body. If the deer is gutted than blood pooling in the vein(s) is near to none.
Its an old tradition that really serves no purpose unless you dont gut the deer.

(Not telling you your wrong, because your not the one who does this...your just saying thats what they do)
