I tried something new this year and headed out to the big woods (National Forest) for the opening of the gun deer season in Wisconsin. When we got out of the truck an hour before opening it said "0 degrees" on the mirror in the truck! At 9:30 I shot this doe at 140 yards with the rifle. She was the eleventh deer I had seen on opening morning. All does, no antlers. She was aged at 5-1/2 years old and weighs easily over 150 lbs. It was a long drag back to the truck, but it was well worth. P.S. ths is my third season hunting and this is the first deer I have taken during the regular gun season, shot others during T-zone though. I was pumped!! As of Sunday night our group (12 people) had 7 does and 2 bucks, all taken on public land.

I got back home from up north last night and had today off so I decided to go out hunting at the farm. Took my climber and headed out, I was situated in my stand by 11:15 this morning and by 11:45 I shot my first buck!! It was a 35 yard shot (shotgun only) and he dropped right in his tracks! Nothing huge, but its a place to start. I will post pics later when I get them off the camera. I think its going to be a good night cheers.gif cheers.gif cheers.gif Oh yeah, its the first deer shot out at the farm out of 10 guys, three days into the season and it only took me 30 minutes.
