I try to stop by at least every other day or so, but you're right it is starting off slow. It's slow on the other board too though, as it tends to be this time of year.

Will you guys allow a flat lander to check in here once in awhile? Being that I am heading up your way for my second chance at a bear?

Good deal. I finally got my confirmation letter from the guide, so I am all offical now. Will be heading up that way Labor day weekend.

I am way over pumped. my calander at work, plus my outlook calender, both have weekly reminders of the countdown til the hunt.
Double Lunger
Is this the same one you went with last time ?
woody116
Yes. We became buddy's with a guy from NH during the hunt, and he is returning as well. after much discussion about other camps, we decided to stay with Allagash. Big reason is that we now know what to expect. Second, the group that was there the same week we were has hunted with Al for several years, and have killed several bears. They couldnt belive that no one was seeing bears last year, all were saying that they see alot of bears usually. So, that kinda helped it be easier as well.
One more shot at it, if no good this year, then I will be going somewhere else for sure.

Any of you guys and girls ever think of hunting Africa? My wife Barbara and I are trying to put togther a hunt in South Africa for 2007, this will be our third hunt over there. Price wise it is about the same as hunting the U.S. other then air fair and taxidermy is far cheeper even with shipping.
Double Lunger
Whats a round about price Jud ? What month also ? March to Dec. is a no go for me .

Airfare from New York (JFK) to Johannesburg is around 1600 dollars and your hunt would run from around $150 $350 per day. This includes lodging food transportation a hunting guide (P.H.) everything other then trophy fees. Sight seeing is about $120 to $150 and again includes everything. By the way, in South Africa you will be very spoiled for that price you do not rough it at all.
The best time of year would be from june through September, but bring warm clothes as this is their winter going into to spring. This is the trophy quality I got with Numzaan Safaris, the taxidermy was done by Lifeform Taxidermy.
