I like my express because it's a "hunting" gun. The finish is not fancy. I was told several years ago the Express was designed with the duck hunter in mind. Remington did not want to put a fancy finish on the gun since most duck hunters would be throwing them down in the boat and generally putting them through some hard abuse in teh marshes.

Most reliable shotgun you can buy. I have a Wingmaster I bought with lawn mowing money as a kid and an Express slug gun in synthetic black for deer hunting down south. Both in 12 gauge. I believe all the new Express models are chambered for 3" shells. They are the only shotguns we carry in our squads or on the CERT team. We had some fancy Bennelli auto's but ended up going back to the trustworthy 870's. Great guns, you can't go wrong.

I've got the 870 Express Magnum, and it takes 2 3/4 or 3".

Ditto.
Great shotgun for the money! Can't tell you how many Grouse and Woodcock have hit the ground using this scatter gun.
