I went shed hunting today for 2 and a half hours. I came up empty but like kymullet i did find a dead animal, only mine was not as cool. biggrin.gif

I found a dead red fox, and I have his head in a bucket of water macerating it. I'm going to clean it up and then maybe sell it.

I'll post pics in the taxidermy section when its all done.

its a long process, but still neat. Should have let me know. I just threw out 4 fox skulls and a coyote skull....I did save one monster yote skull though. Maybe MN_Whitetail will clean it for me blush.gif

haha well, theres not much meat left on it, it shouldnt take me long to clean it up.

Good luck with the coyote skull, I would just bury it and be done with it for a few months haha.

You forget that we have snow. roflmao.gif Ground is frozen.

ha oh yeah, i forgot that u dont live down here where it stays 40-60 degrees all winter tongue.gif

40-60 degrees isnt a winter in my opinion. tongue.gif

MN_Whitetail is macerating skulls too. But he has mini fish tank heater in the bucket to keep the water warm.
The smell is rancide....
buckmaster14a
haha yes it will be :)

Oh and shed i got the squirrel vid today, and i have noticed a few things.

1. The squirrel the guy uses in the video to skin is a DWARF compared to what I have
2. The squirrel he uses gives up its skin much easier than any i have ever skint.
3. HE MAKES IT ALL LOOK SO EASY!

He had the whole squirrel skinned out ready to flesh in 3 minutes.... no joke haha, it took me an hour just to get the front 2 feet out... lol

Now I just gotta measure the squirrel in my freezer and order a kit.
shedEgo
well yeah, he is a pro! of course he is going to make it look easy. No worries though, took me like 40 minutes to skin and flesh my squirrel. But ive had practice, expecially after this weekend!
took me like 5 hours to skin the large yote.
MN_Whitetail showed up tonight with ANOTHER project. A big opossum that one of his employees shot AT work! haha. crazy looking critter (the only Marsupial we have in the U.S.)

When ordering a form, you may want to go just a tiny bit smaller so you have plenty of skin to work with. I made this mistake on my squirrel kit. I didnt have enough skin to work with.
Good luck!
