Would you reckon a deer rubbed it? biggrin.gif

I kno! biggrin.gif

Suprisingly i didnt find any sheds in this area, but this rub was fairly fresh as there was wood shavings on the ground around it.

Not trying to be a smarty, but wood shavings dont just disappear. ive seen old rubs that still have some shavings scattered about once all the snow melts. I doubt its fresh, but thats not to say the buck who made it isnt still hanging around. 59.gif
Impressive rub non the less

I know, but a lot of times the wood shavings will settle under the leaves from the wind and rain if the rub is old enough, these were still on top of the leaves biggrin.gif

There was also semi-fresh spots in the dirt around the rub from the deer tearing up the ground while rubbing.

Not saying you're wrong either :)

But yes, either way, its a great rub, and i would like to see what made it. biggrin.gif

Pretty sure leaves can blow off of the shavings too and there can be leaves under the shavings still. rolleyes.gif How exactly do you judge a semi fresh spot of dirt? Add water?

Well, there was deer tracks all in the dirt aound the rub. It had rained the day before. Normally a good rain will wash deer tracks out of the dirt, but these were still there.

I could be wrong though.... would NOT be the first time :)

maybe its from your avitar? ohmy.gif

Rabbits eat the bark on trees in the winter, are you sure this is just not the work of those critters. The trees and shrubs in my area look like this after a winter if there are any amount of rabbits around. They don't leave shavings, thats what they eat.

That would be my guess too.

A rabbit wont climb a tree. some of those rubs went up chest high.
