I'm new to archery, I just bought a Diamond Bow The Rock. I wondering which broad head weight to use. 75gr or 100gr. I figure I lost speed with a 26in draw length but I'd still like to get the max out of my bow. I'm using blazer veins and it's pulling at 71lbls so the scale said. Any advice would be great. Thanks unsure.gif unsure.gif

Try them both...but I prefer 100 grains, they fly good for me. Keep in mind, if your bow is tuned properly they both should fly well.

I am guessing that due to your draw length, your arrow length is somewere between 25" and 27" You might find that the lighter point balences well, but it also may make your arrow on the stiff side.

Like Lance said, I would try both and see what shoots the best for you and check that at longer distances.

Yes my arrow length is 26". Last year I used a friends bow and I used a 75 gr. Muzzy broad head.
it done what it was suppose to. I had a complete pass through at 30 yd. It just seem everyone around me here said I should use at least a 100 gr. I just felt that with a lighter weight that the arrow would fly more flat and get a couple more yds. out of it. I don't know what you mean by making the arrow more stiff though. If you could explain that to me that would be great.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry for not being around.
The point weight directly affects your arrow spine(how stiff it is and how it flexes)
The lighter the point, the stiffer the spine becomes and vise versa. So sometimes point weight requires you to change to a differnt arrow size just like the draw weight and arrow length does.

I hope this helps.

You don't just say I think I would like a 75 grain (or whatever) broadhead. Everything is a balancing act. You want a certain range of foc (forward of center). If you are to light the arrow will shoot ok with field points, but not so good with broadheads. If your arrow spine is to stiff you can weaken it with a heavier head and vice versa. Arrow length is very important to get the correct spine. Don't just say I would like a 26 inch arrow. Find out what length will provide the correct spine for you. If the arrow you have has to be 30 inchs long to work properly buy a lighter spined arrow, then you can cut it shorter. Go to Archery talk and ask one of the guys with a computer program to run the numbers for you and then get an arrow close to your specs and then tune from there. Good luck, Tom.
Wack Um Stack Um
id recomend a 100g...im 16..and i only have a 26 draw length too im shooting 64lbs and i use 100g spitfires..u are shooting a pretty good weight ...and with a heavier broadhead u prob will have harder hits and better arrow flight..my opinion..but if 75g works for u..stick with it.. happy.gif
