I bought a Scoutguard for my father to use as a security camera out at his cabin and have just started to play with it. It seems to work fine in the house, but the 2 times I've put it in the field, I return to find the card full of pictures taken right after each other.

The first time, the temps dropped to -30C, so I thought maybe that might be the issue. This last time I put it out, the temp was just below 0C, but later in the week it dropped to the -20's. I had set the sensitivity to low, thinking that might have had something to do with it, but a couple of the days it triggered repeatedly. Not as many times as the first time though.

I guess it could have been the wind, over sensitive(even though it is set to low), doesn't like cold temps.

I guess I'm curious if other people have had success with it in cold temps like we can get up here in Alberta? As I said before, it seems to work fine in the house. I just brought it home and am going to play with it this week to see what I can figure out.

Thanks,

I have had great success with the 550 in cold weather.

I just received an email from the distributor, and apparently it is a common issue with a certain batch of cameras. An oversensitive sensor is the culprit. They said they can replace it for me. I'm glad to hear that. I've heard nothing but good things about the distributor and the dealers for this camera, so hopefully everything works out.
