For Blacktail, look along the south side of grassy ridges or hills.

I found one this year, first of the year, at the base of a newly rubbed devil bush. A young pine that has a frsh rub on it caught my atatention, then moving along that trail for another ten yards found the devil bush freshly rubbed (this is in March) and was telling my wife that a buc was probably trying to rub off its horns, and looked down and there it was. That young 6 point wanted me to find his shed.
