Well I had my first turkey hunting expedition this weekend. Saturday was opening day for Spring Gobbler. I have never hunted turkey before and a friend of mine ask if I wanted to go and I said sure, so I packed my bow and went. I got to his house and he kinda chuckled when he saw that I had brought my bow. He ask if I had a shot gun I told him I wanted to hunt with my bow. He said I wouldn't even get drawn back before the thing spotted me and would run. I was hunting without a blind and was just using pine trees for cover. I never got in view of any Tom's but hear them quite close, but a Hen did get with in 15-20 yrds. Just couldn't shoot her it was Spring Gobbler no hens.http://realdealhuntingchat.invisionzone.com/style_emoticons/default/censored.gifhttp://realdealhuntingchat.invisionzone.com/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif

Congrats on the first turkey hunt, Big D. Stick with your bow if you enjoy hunting that way. I can't tell you how many times I only saw hens when hunting with a gun! So gun or bow enjoy the challenge and whole experience. Pulling the trigger or releasing the string is only part of the hunt.

Definately need to go with a blind and wear black clothing. Decoys out in front about 25 yards helps also.
