First is a red fox. I wanted to have a little fun with this one, so I gave her blue eyes. She took a buck shot to her throat, so I had to patch it all up with some scrap fur, but she turned out nice.
And the second one is my first ever bird mount! My uncle shot this bird and when I got it, he was missing a whole section of his wing feathers. other than that, I think its not bad for a first...birds are HARD!

Young red fox have grey blue to blue eyes some to grey green. I can't remember when they change over. It does however occur before adulthood.

mbowerman, the picture I got the idea from was of a young fox. anyways, its not common at all in adults. I just wanted to try something a little different I guess.

Just like any taxidermy project start off with a good specimen. Replacement pheasants can be bought for about $15. Finished product will looke a lot better if all there.
